Sometimes you wanna go

Where everybody knows your name

And they're always glad you came

You wanna be where you can see

Our troubles are all the same

You wanna be where everybody knows your name”

While this beloved 1990’s sentiment from the show Cheers is a bit dated, it’s still relevant today, especially in our writing community. The art of crafting worlds can oftentimes be isolating and lonely. It requires us to introvert ourselves for the success of the art, but we should also be finding fellow writers to help us on our journey to find camaraderie, advice, and beta readers who are invested in both your story and yourself. We as writers should be finding ways to connect with each other. Writers in Residence does a wonderful job of offering a couple times a month to meet with the Kansas City writing community by popping up around the Metro area, but sometimes you just want to log on to the computer and talk to those writers you have met in person at the group meetings. Midnight Garden Publishing has found a way to unite all of the Writers in Residence communities in one private space with the Modern Literary Salon community group. It is an online oasis.away from the social media platforms that sometimes are as distracting as they are helpful. The M.L.S. Online allows you to stay up to date on all of Midnight Garden Publishing and Writers in Residence events, talk to local Kansas City Metro authors, writers, and artists in a private space. Our level system rewards you with free gives, information, and presentations for contributing to conversation through our liked comment point system.

It will also be housing our Author’s Academy (coming soon): an educational resource for writers and artists that helps you develop your writing skills. In addition, it helps you learn how to use our small business and client relationship management Author’s Kit and Caboodle software, as well as level up your knowledge of finance, marketing, and small business skills. We also have a space for Body Doubling with other writers who work better with others, a meme market to share your funny found content, and a space to advertise any of your own events, or book releases.

We also have the M.L.S. Online KC Artist Community for Artists. A similar space made for local Kansas City artists to help provide a shared space for those artists to work together and learn about our Artist’s Kit and Caboodle software, learning how to run your craft as a small business with financial education, and marketing resources, in addition to education through our Artist’s Academy (coming soon). It has similar thread rooms for working together, hanging out, sharing funny found content, events, and upcoming news.

Welcome home Kansas City writers and artists, make yourself comfortable. Please enjoy the community and share your writing journey with us.
