Hey there, Midnight Gardeners and KC Creatives!
I couldn't wait another second to share some massive news with you!
As you know, our mission here at Midnight Garden Publishing House is to empower local Kansas City authors and artists. We want to give you the tools, the software, the education, and the community to get your art out into the world. But sometimes, you also just need a good laugh and a place to play.
That is why we are so incredibly thrilled to unveil a brand-new section of the Garden Gate newsletter: The Midnight Syndicate!
Starting in next months issue, this page is going to feature two amazing things:
1. A Peek Behind Our Vines: First, you'll get to read our very own comic strip, Ink, Vines, and Out of Our Minds. It's a slightly exaggerated (but honestly, mostly accurate) look at the daily chaos of running our botanical themed publishing house. You'll meet Ben (my rock), Patricia (our Editor-in-Chief who rides an alien raptor) who brings funny editorial moments, Jonathan (our tech-hero and resident poet), and me... usually running at top speed. Oh, and keep an eye out for Finley the dog in the background hamming it up.
2. The Xiero Studios Beta-Test (WE NEED YOUR VOTES!): Here is where YOU come in! We are partnering with the brilliant minds over at Xiero Studios, an amazing hyper-local comic book publisher right here in KC. They are using Kansas City as the gritty, epic backdrop for their super universe—and they are using our newsletter as their secret testing ground!
Next to our office antics, Xiero will be dropping brand-new, never-before-seen pilot strips of their upcoming heroes and villains. And you get to be the executive producers. After reading, we want you to vote! Tell us which Xiero characters you love, which plotlines hooked you, and which short strips deserve to be fleshed out into full-blown, printed comic books. We are handing the power over to our local community to help Xiero decide what to bring to market next.
